Media & Information Literacy Program for Public Library
The Media & Information Literacy (MIL) Program for Public Libraries is a capacity-building initiative designed to strengthen the role of public libraries as trusted centers for information access, digital literacy, and community education. The program equips librarians, library staff, and community users with the knowledge and skills needed to critically access, analyze, evaluate, and use information from both traditional and digital media sources. Implemented by the Youth Initiative for Sustainable Human Development in Africa (YiSHDA), the program focuses on combating misinformation, disinformation, and fake news while promoting responsible digital citizenship and informed decision-making. Through training workshops, practical exercises, peer learning sessions, and resource development, participants learn how to identify credible information sources, verify online content, understand media influence, and safely navigate digital platforms.
